For those looking for the complete package when taking a golf holiday in Hua Hin, Lake View Resort and Golf Club could be the answer.
This golf course is located inland, away from the coast but still only takes around 30 minutes to reach Hua Hin town. However, with 36 holes to play and accommodation available, you may wish to stay for longer to enjoy the resort.
The golf course is split into four sets of nine holes, each labelled A, B, C and D. In terms of the suggested round of 18 holes, the course has grouped A and B together and C and D together. Course A is known as the Mountain Course and this becomes evident from the views of the surrounding mountains during a round.
The fairways are undulating but there is no real change in elevation on the course, with the mountains forming the backdrop and nothing more.
The second set of nine holes on the A and B route is the Lakes Course. Again, the name of the golf course gives away what to expect and water features more prominently than the front nine. The 14th hole is a real standout and the par-3 boasts a tee shot from a tee box on a small island to an island green.
Moving to the second 18-hole circuit and the first set of nine holes is called the Desert Course. However, many locals have taken to calling this course the Arizona Course in reference to the golf courses in the United States. Look our for the bunkers, rocks and cacti during a round on the Desert Course and enjoy what is a unique golfing experience in Hua Hin.
Finally, we come to the fourth set of nine holes and this is called the Links Course. This opened for play in 2006 and is played in a wide, open area. There are few trees in comparison to the other three sets of nine holes at Lake View Resort and Golf Club. It is the open spaces and lack of trees which may remind you of a links course as opposed to the playing surface and layout.
All four sets of nine holes make for a fantastic golfing experience and you should try each of them to get a good feel of the venue and the various challenges posed by each course.
As mentioned above, Lake View Resort and Golf Club has accommodation available with 70 standard rooms and 5 suites. Additional facilities include a swimming pool, tennis courts, squash court and pool tables. The restaurant has outdoor seating and you can sample one of the local dishes following a round of golf.
